CAPS is a portable, safe, and easy-to-use jump starter for heavy and light-duty applications. It can charge, discharge, and then recharge faster than any lead-acid, battery-powered jump starter. It is lighter and more portable as well.

CAPS’ is powered by its ultracapacitor. This ultracapacitor is kept at 100% state of charge by a small AGM battery inside of CAPS. That battery must stay charged to make sure CAPS is always ready to use.

This system comes with a small AC-to-DC battery charger that is rated at six amps, which is more than enough capacity to keep the internal AGM battery at a 100% state of charge. When the CAPS is not in use keep the charger plugged into the system. It is a full-floating charger, so it will not overcharge or damage the system.

Another way to keep CAPS charged is to use a vehicle. After the vehicle is jumped, leave the CAPS connected for roughly three minutes, it will recharge and be ready to start the next vehicle.

“The CAPS is a great device to use to jump start vehicles,” said Larry Rambeaux Purkeys national truck and fleet representative. “But it is only a storage device, so you have to make sure it stays plugged in and maintained. That way when you need it, it is ready to go.’
