STOP BY AND SEE WHAT’S NEW

Representatives from Purkeys will present electrical advice at TMC’s Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville. This meeting involves experienced fleets, equipment suppliers, and service providers who work together to create practices and equipment that improve the trucking industry in North America.

Purkeys Chief Creative Engineer Bruce Purkey and Purkeys Chief Engineer Dale Henningson will act as chairmen of multiple TMC task forces at the annual meeting. Bruce will serve as chairman of the Solar Power for Commercial Vehicles task force, which will develop a Recommended Practice for solar power. This task force will work to offer guidelines on the application of solar power technology to commercial vehicles and will offer recommendations on safety, specification, and sizing of solar panels. By defining the uses of solar power and identifying variables that affect the generation of power when using solar cells, this task force will be a critical component in developing the use of solar power in the industry.

Other task forces chaired by Purkeys representatives will focus on liftgate voltage and antilock power. Bruce will serve as chairman of the Liftgate Voltage Drop Test Procedure, a task force that will develop a procedure for measuring voltage drop in liftgate starting/charging circuits. Dale will lead a task force on the update of RP 137C, which covers antilock braking system power requirements for truck-tractors. He will also serve as chairman of the task force on the update of RP 141, which covers antilock braking system power requirements for trailers.

The Purkeys team looks forward to collaborating with other industry leaders in developing recommended practices for important topics such as the application of solar power in the trucking industry. This annual meeting starts Sunday February 15 and will end February 19, 2015.
