Purkeys’ Sales and Service Engineer Larry Rambeaux attended multiple tech events this month. He hosted stations at the Walmart Regional, South Carolina State Competition, Southeastern Freight Lines Competition and the National Lease National Competition.
Tech events are competitions fleet technicians participate in for the opportunity to be recognized for their electrical skills and abilities. According to Larry, a technician will generally go through a written test and there can be as many as 12 different hands-on stations that test their electrical skills.
These events are a good way to showcase technicians with the most well rounded electrical abilities in a region. They also show the importance of being good at your job. Technicians are supposed to diagnose and repair trucks quickly and effectively. Larry said these events are “very helpful because fleet leaders are there and can see where techs excel and where they need to improve.”
Purkeys attends these events all over the country because they allow the company to give back to the industry by volunteering employees’ time and expertise. According to Larry, “tech events allow Purkeys to work face to face with some of the best technicians and share our electrical expertise.”
