The continuity function on a multimeter is a helpful measurement, but it does have its limitations. Once continuity has been checked, verifying the condition of the wiring of the entire circuit is essential.
A circuit with a good continuity reading may still have issues like voltage drop stemming from simple problems such as a frayed wire. Using a voltmeter to test for voltage drop is a good way to diagnose circuit health once continuity has been established.
Manually checking the circuit wires for any defects enables a technician to pinpoint any problems with the integrity of the circuit. Performing checks such as these ensures that circuits are able to function correctly and safely. Conducting multiple tests provides the technician with all the necessary information to diagnose circuit health.
