Carl Desens
Technical Service/Warranty Specialist

Carl began his career in heavy-duty trucking by receiving formal training as a diesel mechanic. With this knowledge under his belt, Carl worked for dealerships and fleets for several years. Eventually, he began working for JB Hunt Transport. He spent 21 years with them, beginning as a technician and working in several roles until he became a Maintenance Training Manager.

After his time with JB Hunt, Carl became an instructor in the Medium/Heavy Truck Technology department at Northwest Technical Institute. He spent a lot of his time teaching his students about electrical systems and vehicle electronics. During his 14 years at the Institute, Carl also spent time as the Department Chair.

Carl recently decided to join the Purkeys team and we are very excited to have him! His experience and understanding of electrical systems makes him a great addition to the team. Carl is excited to work with customers and he loves having the ability to help them solve issues and keep things up and running!

In his spare time, Carl can be found rebuilding old vehicles. He started this hobby because he wasn’t always able to afford a new car, so he learned how to keep older cars running. He has both repaired vehicles and rebuilt them. His most recent project was pulling an old truck out of a field and rebuilding the cab, engine, and transmission, as well as adding a custom wood bed to the truck. He feels a great deal of satisfaction when he can take something that is broken down and get it back on the road.
